The Itinerary

This itinerary showcases the absolute best photography destinations in Morocco while also showing off the diversity of the country. Essentially, looping from cities to desert to the high Atlas mountains and to cities.

Day 1

Casablanca –

Upon arrival in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, you will be met and transferred by van to your Casablanca hotel, where you will check in and relax for the afternoon. Depending on time, you would have a tour of the impressive Hassan II mosque. Dinner will be served out in a local restaurant. HOTEL CLUB VAL D’ANFA

Day 2

Chefchaouen – " the blue city"

 After an early  breakfast, you will leave towards Chefchaouen, the famous blue city . On route, you will stop at Rabat, the capital city and residence of the King, for lunch and a time to enjoy the beautiful coastal city. You will have a brief visit of Rabat: the  Tour Hassan, Mausoleum Mohammed V. After lunch you will continue on to Chefchaouen through the Rif Mountains  for the night. Dinner will be served in the hotel.

Day 3

Chefchaouen –

Before breakfast, you will head out on an early morning shoot of the sunrise . After breakfast, you will have a tour of this “cool” blue town, with steep narrow streets, paved with stones that have been polished by thousands of feet over the centuries.  The homes are painted blue, white, azure blue, indigo, and purple and have blue shutters and elaborately decorated doorways . As we start exploring this magnificent city perched high in the Riff Mountains it will appear that the photographic opportunities are endless.  Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will head out on an excursion into the Rif. Be prepared to enjoy a different part of the Moroccan culture. Dinner will be served in a local Restaurant.

Day 4

Chefchaouen / Fes –

 After breakfast, you will set off directly to Fes through the Rif mountain, a medieval world treasure and UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you walk through the maze of streets in the Medina you are literally walking through 1,300 years of Moroccan heritage. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the evening, you will have a visit to the Ramparts of Fes for some spectacular medina shots. Dinner will be served in the Riad. RIAD

Day 5

Fes –

At sunrise, you will be ready for some shots of the ancient city from the beautiful overlook. After breakfast you will begin your guided tour of the medina, one of the world’s largest walled in cities. You will explore the narrow streets , Medina with its Medersas (religious Islamic universities) Attarine , the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss mausoleum, and the Karaouine Mosque University . A highlight is a visit to the famous Fes tannery, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco. For lunch you will eat in traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina. After lunch you will complete the tour and return to your riad for the evening. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant.

Day 6

Fes / Merzouga / Sahara –

     After an early breakfast you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards the Sahara Desert. Half way, you will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt. In the afternoon, you will make your way down along the Ziz River Valley. upon arrival in  Arfoud, a famous town for its fossils and rocks where you will have a break back-in-time. Then to the marvelous merzouga , you will set off by camel for a camel trek in the dunes and sleep the night in an Tent will spend the night.

Day 7

Desert Camp_Boumalne Dades

   After breakfast you will pass through the old fortrest of the south (ksours and kasbahs), then a short stop to see the old irrigation system (khotara) in toroug valley, last but not least you will have a photo session of traditional clothing, lunch will be in a guesthouse  ,then you will visit todgha gorges. Dinner and overnight in boumalne dades.

Day 8

Boumalne/ Skoura_

   After breakfast , you will take the road to the valley of roses (kelaat megouna) known for its apricots , but especially for its roses , this valley is rich of its traditions  its Berber culture , its splendid landscapes, its inhabitants , And a wondefrul sites of birdwatching called the valley of birds ,  The picturesque river valleys make for a beautiful journey towards the southeast of Morocco. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. You will continue your trip along the route of  a 1000 and one Kasbahs to the Partrigde's oasis. where you will have a botanical visit in the Palm-fields.

Day 9

Skoura to Ait-ben Haddou

   An early breakfast will be organized to witness the contrast of the southern nature oasis vs stony desert during the sunrise  , then you will have a palmeraie visit by Tok-Tok to the famous kasbahs of amridil, it is a  living museum showcases traditional kasbah life over the centuries, with hand-carved door locks, an olive oil press, still-functioning bread ovens and stalls where animals were once kept, lunch will be serverd beneath Palm-trees. You will then head out to the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou that is classified as a UNESCO world heritage since 1987, where you will be ready for the sunset and sunrise. In typical Moroccan fashion, the true treasures must be searched out and discovered…usually off the beaten path. In actuality, this setting has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco; films including, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and recently The Gladiator. Dinner will be served at the Kasbah.

Day 10

Marrakech –

  After breakfast, you will head off towards Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains. Take some time enjoying this beautiful landscape. Once in Marrakech, you will check into your hotel and then head off to the Djemaa el-Fna, the center square of the medina. The famous Djemaa el-Fna, is one of the center attractions of Marrakech. Coming alive at night with the local storytellers, entertainers, and mouth-watering barbeque pits, the square is well worth a visit. A quiet cup of tea on the terrace of an adjacent café provides a spectacular aerial view of the bustling square. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 11

Marrakech –

    After breakfast, you will have a guided tour of Marrakech, the southern pearl of Morocco. You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other hidden treasures. After lunch, you will continue with the tour on to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the center attractions of Marrakech. You will explore the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco and then head off to visit the Majorelle Gardens. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.

Day 12

Marrakech / Essaoiura –

   After breakfast, you will set off to the coastal city of Essaouira, a picturesque fishing town, lying on the southwest coast of Morocco. With an exquisite beach to the south, Essaouira has become one of Morocco’s most popular coastal towns. Many of the countries wood carvers and artists make Essaouira their home, You will find plenty of chances to exercise your camera shutter and then relax for a hearty lunch of fish. Along the route, you will have some fantastic coastal views! Dinner will be served at the Riad. RIAD MIMOUNA

Day 13

Essaoiura / Casablanca –

      Today will take you back to Casablanca. You will leave Essaouira for Casablanca. You will drive along the coastline to El Jadida where you will visit the citadel and see the underground cistern. You will then continue on to Casablanca, where you will spend your last night in the country. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant.

This photography tour to Morocco has been specially curated to make sure we are photographing in the best light possible. You will learn about the best time of day to photograph and how to overcome challenging lighting situations. Relaxing when the light is harsh and shooing when the light is good.

Expect sunrises and sunsets over the Sahara Desert, portraits of the Berbers of the desert and private photoshoots with traditionally dressed men and women.

Don’t expect the typical tourist locations! Where others might go in, we go around. This is a custom designed travel tour, by a photographer, for photography enthusiasts.
